lettered in three sports (football, basketball and baseball) while at Savannah State (1968-72). The Savannah, GA native was an All-SIAC defensive back in 1970, 71 and 72. He made the All-SIAC team in basketball in 1970. Harper scored 26 points in the 1970 SIAC Basketball Tournament championship game against Alabama State and helped Savannah State win its first SIAC basketball championship. In 1972, Harper made the All-SIAC Baseball Team as a catcher.
Harper graduated from Savannah State in 1972 with a degree in education. He worked for 34 years at Tronox, Inc. and is now retired. Currently, he is a member of the Georgia High School Athletics Coaches and Officials Association and officiates local high school football, basketball and baseball games.
