Frank “The Rocket” Prince (track) – A native of Panama, and the half mile champion of Panama, led the first Savannah State University track team, in 1949, to win the first Southeastern Athletic Conference (SEAC) track championship held in the history of the conference. Prince made six appearances in the eastern United States in summer 1949, finishing first three times and second in three other track meets. He also ran with the New York Pioneer Club where he won second in the Metropolitan New York AAU 1000 yards and also won first place in the Knights of Columbus Meet in Long Island, New York. He also won races at the Drake Relays, Alabama State Relays, and the Tuskegee Relays. He led Savannah State to three consecutive SEAC Track and Field championships from 1949 -1951. He was All – SEAC in track from 1948 – 1952.
