McClain, White and Richardson Earn Volleyball Honors

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Shawanda McClain, Shatice White and Danielle Richardson have all earned post-season honors in volleyball for the 2009 season.

McClain and White were named Honorable Mention to the Division I All-Independent Volleyball Team while White and Richardson were named to the Division I Independent All-Academic Team.

McClain, a senior setter from Atlanta, GA led SSU in assists (424) and was third on the team in digs (117). She also had 55 points, 35 kills, 17 serving aces and 4 blocks.

White, a sophomore outside hitter from Morrow, GA, led Savannah State in kills (172) and points (213) and was second on the team in serving aces (26), digs (125) and blocks (26). She also had 12 assists.

Richardson, a senior defensive specialist from Atlanta, GA, ha a 3.58 grade point average while majoring in sociology.

White carries a 3.46 grade point average and has not decided on a major.

To earn Academic All–Independent honors, a student–athlete must have been a starter or significant reserve and have reached sophomore standing with a minimum 3.30 grade point average.
