SAVANNAH, Ga.- With several new and old faces along with a veteran coach, the Savannah State University volleyball team will report to preseason camp on Monday, August 11 to prepare for the 2025 season.

The Lady Tigers will open camp with a roster of 15 players that includes eight newcomers and seven returnees along with head coach Roselidah Obunaga who has been at SSU for seven years. Obunaga served as the interim head coach for the 2019 season and was officially named the head coach in February of 2020.

Players will move into their residence halls on August 11 and following a team meeting and lunch, they will hold their first preseason practice on August 12 at 3 p.m. at the Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium

The team will have two net practices on August 12-14.

Also on August 14, the head coach and two of her players will travel to Atlanta to participate in the annual Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Media Day.

The squad will go to Tybee Island for team bonding sessions on August 15 followed by the SSU Athletics Department Cookout on August 15, the Athletics Fall Convocation on August 17 and the first day of classes on August 18.

Once classes begins, the team will have afternoon practices.

SSU will open the fall season with the annual Orange and Blue Scrimmage on September 2 and will start the regular with non-conference match with Middle Georgia State University on Sept. 4 in Tiger Arena.

In 2024, Savannah State finished second in the SIAC Eastern Division during the regular season and ended their season setting new marks in single season overall and conference wins. The Lady Tigers were 15-9 overall and posted a 13-6.
