ATLANTA, Ga.- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2025 preseason all-conference women's volleyball teams, individual honors and predicted orders of finish on Monday.
The All-SIAC preseason team features six players who made the 2024 All-Conference Team which includes Savannah State University outside hitter
Savannah Everett and setter
Amiyah Walker. Both Everett and Walker were named to the All-SIAC Preseason First Team.
As a team, the Lady Tigers were picked to finish second in the SIAC East Division, behind defending Division Champion, Albany State.
During the 2024 season, Everett led SSU in kills with 353. She started all 24 matches she played in and ended the season playing in 92 sets. A senior from Colorado Springs, Colorado, she also had five assists, 69 digs and 20 blocks.
Walker saw action in 84 sets and started 20 of the 22 matches she played in. The sophomore from Pleasant Grove, Alabama led SSU with 526 assists, was second in serving aces (31) and third in digs (247). She also had 56 kills and 16 blocks.
Behind Albany State and Savannah State in the East Division are Fort Valley State University, Clark Atlanta University, Benedict College, Edward Waters University and Allen University. Spring Hill College is predicted to win the West Division followed by Central State University, Lane College, Kentucky State University, Tuskegee University, Miles College and LeMoyne-Owen College.
In 2024, Savannah State finished second in the SIAC Eastern Division during the regular season and ended their season setting new marks in single season overall and conference wins. The Lady Tigers were 15-9 overall and posted a 13-6.
SSU will open the fall season with the annual Orange and Blue Scrimmage on September 2nd and will start the regular with non-conference match with Middle Georgia State University on Sept. 4th in Tiger Arena.
