COLUMBIA, S.C.-
Macada McDonald set two new school records for Savannah State at the 2025 SIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship which was held April 223-25 at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track at the University of South Carolina.
McDonald set new SSU records in the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles.
Her time of 14.18 in the finals of the 100m hurdles broke her own record of 14.52 that was set on April 19 at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic.
The freshman from Lithonia, Georgia qualified for the finals of the 400m hurdles with a a new school record time of 1:01.13. The old record of 1:01.67 was set by Iycis Hammock in 2017 at the MEAC Outdoor Championships. McDonald posted a time of 1:01.28 in the finals.
She finished third in the 100m hurdles and in the 400m hurdlers and earned SSU six points in each event.
Saniya Swain competed in the heptathlon where on the first day of competition she finished second in the 100m hurdles, fourth in the high jump, ninth in the 200m and 19th in the shot put.
Lauryn Clark finished 17th in the hammer throw with her personal best toss of 22.90m
Swain finished the final three events in the heptathlon on the second day by placing fifth in the 800m, seventh in the long jump and 11th in the javelin. Her performance in the heptathlon earned the team four points as she finished fifth overall with 3315 points.
Most of the scheduled events were postponed on the second day of competition because of inclement weather and were made up on the third day.
Aneya Kight was 14th in the high jump with a leap of 1.40m.
In the 100m race,
Victoria Taylor (12.57) was 15th,
Nasiya Thomas (13.01) finished 23rd,
Samyah Berry (13.17) was 28th and
Taylor Clark (13.51) finished 29th.
Savannah State finished 11th overall with 16 points.
Tuskegee was the overall winner.
