Louisville, Kentucky-It was a new championship era for Savannah State women's indoor track and field as well as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the Lady Tigers took part in the inaugural Cricket SIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center on Thursday and Friday.
The Lady Tigers placed eighth in the two-day championship, earning 17 total team points. The Golden Tigers of Tuskegee took the inaugural women's crown, outpacing the field to earn 242.5 points.
On the track,
Macada McDonald placed fourth in the women's 60m hurdles (9.05s), while
Saniya Swain too seventh in the event with a new personal best time of 9.51s. The women's 4x400m relay team took fourth in the event at 4:12.92.
In the field events, Swain took fourth in the women's triple jump (10.11m) and also placed seventh in the women's long jump (4.64m). Lauren Clark took 10th place in the women's weighted throw (9.85m) and 21st in the women's shot put event (8.81m).
Savannah State will turn their attentions outdoors starting next Saturday, March 1st as they will host the Savannah State Eyeopener at T. A. Wright Stadium.
