SAVANNAH, Ga. – As basketball winds down the regular season, Savannah State spring sports are ramping up. This week, basketball, baseball, track and field, tennis and golf will all be competing.  
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The No. 10 Lady Tigers are currently battling for the No. 1 seed out of the SIAC East Division. They will play their final two games of the regular season on the road. SSU is 16-6 overall and 12-5 in conference.  They were voted the No. 10 team in this week's D2SIDA South Region Media Poll.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Tigers are in a three-way battle with Benedict and Morehouse for first place in the SIAC East Division currently. Seeding for the 2023 SIAC Championship Tournament Presented by Cricket will come down to the final two regular season games.

BASEBALL
The baseball Tigers were ranked in the preseason and delivered in their first series of the year last weekend, beating Virginia State two out of three times with a combined 32 runs in two big routs. SSU opens the conference schedule this weekend with a three-game series against Lane.
 
On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Tigers will have a pre-game ceremony. Members of last year's 2022 SIAC Regular Season Championship team will receive watches to commemorate the accomplishment.

TENNIS
Savannah State women's tennis open their 2023 schedule on Friday. The Lady Tigers will host five SIAC teams in a two-day cluster on the Tiger Tennis Courts. The Lady Tigers will play three games.

TRACK AND FIELD
In all three of their indoor meets this season, the Savannah State men's and women's track and field teams have set new personal bests and eclipsed school records. The highly talented team will close out the indoor season this weekend before opening the outdoor season begins on Feb. 25.

GOLF
Savannah State men's and women's golf will head to Montgomery, Alabama for the annual Alabama State Spring Invitational. Last year, Korbin Allen claimed medal honors at the ASU Spring Invite.
