The Savannah State Athletics Media Relations Department, also known as the Sports Information Office, is the primary source of public information for all 15 of Savannah State sports.

Sports Information is a dedicated and integral part of college and professional athletics. The Sports Information office keeps track of statistics for all sports, generates internal and external communications on upcoming games, creates marketing materials (posters and web graphics), designs and maintains the primary webpage (ssuathletics.com) for SSU Athletics and maintains all social media platforms. The department is also charged with producing live stats and live video streams for SSU Athletics and handles game operations for each sport.

The office also plans and leads press conferences in conjunction with coaches and other athletic administration and works closely with the Director of Athletics in the implementation of branding and advertising. Sport Information generates pre-game press releases and post-game stories on individual games and mediates interview requests from local, regional, and national press.

Sports Information Internship (2 positions/Hybrid for credit) |ALL POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED

Job Description (For Savannah State students only) 

  • The Sports Information Internship with the Savannah State Athletics Media Relations Office serves directly under the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations for an entire semester. This job is a hybrid position, alternating between some on-campus work and remote work.
  • The candidate will work 12.5 hours a week for 12 weeks for a total of 150 hours.
  • At the midterm, the supervisor will submit a grade evaluation.
  • At the end of the semester, the candidate will generate a resume, a final internship project (part of the final grade), and will receive a confidential evaluation of the internship from the supervisor. The supervisor will submit a final evaluation.
