Savannah State Athletics Policy for Covering Practices

As a general rule, all practices and home games will be open to the media. However, to attend, a formal request must be made with the Media Relations Department ahead of the practice or game.

Please contact Assistant Athletics Director, Joshua C. Jackson with a request to attend practices and for the practice schedule for individual sports.

For coverage of practice and games please follow the guidelines below:
  • A mask or face covering is strongly recommended while on campus
  • For all interviews with student-athletes, or coaches, a mask must be worn
  • During practices, members of the media must remain at least six feet away from all coaches, staff and student-athletes at all times
  • A designated area will be setup for media during practices and games to ensure they are able to cover the practice appropriately. Members of the media are asked to stay within the bounds of this area during their time covering practice. Exceptions can be made based on a case-by-case request.
  • Post-practice interviews with coaches or student-athletes will be honored on request and take place in person. Please make a formal request for interviews with Joshua Peacock
  • There should be no physical contact between the reporter and any coach or student-athlete at any time. No handshakes or high fives, or any physical contact
  • Repeated violations of these procedures will result in future restriction of access to Savannah State Athletics including revocation of game credentials.
  • Media will not report on specifics that occur during practices. Specifics include, but are not limited to, coach-to-player comments, player-to-player comments, coach-to-coach comments, description of formations, drills or plays, or any "live" updates on injuries. Information on injuries will be released, if necessary, by the Media Relations Department following practice.
  • No Twitter updates nor live blogging will be allowed during practice. No live streaming on social media will be allowed during a game. Accounts will be monitored by members of the Media Relations Department.
  • Video shots during practices must be limited to tight shots, not showing formations or plays. Photographers may be asked by coaches not to film/shoot certain aspects of team periods.
  • Live streaming of video is not allowed at any time.
