No. 13 Lady Tigers Compete At Gamecock Invite

FULL RESULTS 

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Savannah State women's track and field competed alongside the best in the business on Saturday at the 2022 Gamecock Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina.
 
The Lady Tigers—who moved into the No. 13 spot in the NCAA Division II South Region this week—were led on the track by Jahvene Walder.
 
Walder set a new personal best record in the 200m dash with a time of 26.16. She ran a 12.60 in the 100m dash as well. Simone Johnson finished in the middle of the pack in the 800m dash with a time of 2:24.70.
 
In field events, Toni Pellington and Walder tied for eighth place in the high jump, each recording a distance of 1.55m in the event. Pellington finished ninth in the long jump with a distance of 5.13 meters.
 
Up next, Savannah State women's track and field will compete in the 2022 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship, set for April 21-23 on the campus of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
