LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Kionna Chance won the triple jump at the 2026 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships that were held Thursday and Friday at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Chance had a leap of 11.00m to win the event while teammate
Saniya Swain, who finished fourth last year, came in second place with a jump of 10.68m.
In addition to Chance and Swain, Savannah State ended the meet with seven top ten finishes.
In the 60m hurdles, Swain finished fourth with a time of 9.38 and
Shovonne Harp was eighth after her run of 10.02.
The 4x400m relay team of
Yahaisha Ramsey,
Shovonne Harp,
Saniya Swain and
Alana Jones finished fourth after crossing the finish line with a time of 4:38.93.
Chance was sixth in the Pentathlon with 2,434 points and came in eighth in the long jump with a jump of 5.01m.
Lauryn Clark placed 13th in the weight throw (9.25m) and was 15th in the shot put (7.93m).
Taylor Clark finished 16th in the shot put with a throw of 7.25m.
As a team, Savannah State came in eighth last year with 17 points but finished sixth this year with 32 points.
Tuskegee won the meet with 241 points while Central State came in second with 131 points and Benedict finished third with 75 points.
Rounding out the remaining teams were Kentucky State (58), Allen (50), SSU, Lane (30) and Edward Waters (11).
