SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State opened their outdoor track & field season by hosting the SSU Eyeopener at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.
The Lady Tigers finished the meet with 31 points which was good enough for fifth place.
SSU placed in five events, accumulating 21 points in the field events and ten points in the running events.
Kionna Chance finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.06m and was seventh in the long jump following her jump of 4.44m.
Saniya Swain was fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 10.10m.
The 4x100m relay team of
Alana Jones,
Saniya Swain,
Victoria Taylor and
Samyah Berry had a time of 50.42 to finish fourth in their race.
In the throwing events,
Lauryn Clark was fifth with her toss of 26.26m and
Taylor Clark finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 8.75m.
South Carolina State won the meet with 248 points while Clayton State was second with 129.50 points and Fort Valley State finished third with 55 points.
Rounding out the remaining teams were Allen (44.50), SSU, USC Sumter (15) and LaGrange (12).
