SAVANNAH, Ga – Savannah State softball concludes the 2021 season today with doubleheader against Benedict College. They are 10-5 overall this season.

Due to a mandate from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), the game will be a closed event.

LAST MATCH
The Lady Tigers split a twin bill with Benedict College on April 18. The back-to-back doubleheaders conclude the season for both teams. Savannah State fell 7-10 in the opening game on April 18, but took game two 14-7. Savannah State put on a hit parade in game two, racking up 14 hits in the win.

SCOUTING REPORT | SAVANNAH STATE 
The Lady Tigers pandemic shortened season has mostly been victorious. Especially from the plate. Savannah State is ranked No. 2 in all of NCAA Division II in batting average (.388). Leading from the plate is Jayden Moore (.469), fifth-year senior Shayna Byers (.449), Morgan Green (.366), Mahogony Johnson (.343), and JaNesa Robinson (.313).

Byers is ranked nationally in several categories. She's ranked No. 2 in triples per game, No. 3 in doubles per game and No. 4 in runs per game. Johnson is ranked No. 6 in triples per game. Robinson is ranked No. 9 in on base percentage. The team is ranked No. 1 in on base percentage.
On the other side of the ball, Tanisha Williams leads the team on the season with a 4-1 pitching record and a 3.29 ERA. Allisyn Ferrell is 4-2 overall with a 4.49 era.

SCOUTING REPORT | BENEDICT COLLEGE
Benedict concludes their season as well today. They are 9-5 overall. From the plate, Chesney Miller leads with a .500 batting average, followed by Deyonce Lewis (.458), Taylor McNeal (.404), Daneisha Wooten (.333) and Brianna Crosby (.333). Lewis also leads from the circle, with a 7-2 pitching record this season and a 3.32 ERA. Camilla Crooks is 2-1 overall with a 5.93 record.
