SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's basketball team (2-10, 0-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) returns home to face Bethune-Cookman University (4-8, 0-0 MEAC) in the MEAC opener Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
The Lady Tigers continue their difficult stretch with five consecutive opponents that made the postseason play last season. SSU fell to Auburn University (12/11) 75-46 last time out, and at No. 11 Washington (12/18) 87-36 and South Carolina (12/21) 70-30. All three teams made the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament. SSU also fell at Florida Gulf Coast University (1/2) 89-40 and host B-CU Wednesday. FGCU and B-CU both made the National Invitational Tournament.
Savannah State also continues the stretch of playing four games in seven days. The Lady Tigers faced FGCU Monday and faces B-CU Wednesday, at Norfolk State University Saturday at 4 p.m. and at Hampton University Monday at 5 p.m.
The last time out, the Lady Tigers fell at Florida Gulf Coast 89-40 Monday night in Alico Arena in Ft. Myers, Fla. Senior guard

Tiyonda Davis added five rebounds and two blocks.
Hendrix, who became the third SSU student-athlete to reach the 1,000-point milestone against No. 6 South Carolina, is 19 points behind second most in school history in the Division I era. The Carrollton, Ga., native has recorded 1,010 career points and also ranks fifth with 358 made field goals, seven behind fourth place.
Davis ranks fifth in the MEAC in rebounds per game (7.7) and is second in blocks per game (3.18), which ranks seventh in the NCAA and 17
th in the country with 35 blocks.
Graduate student guard Lauren "Gaby" Moss and Hendrix each lead SSU with 10.6 points per game this season, while Davis leads the team with 7.7 rebounds per game, and with 3.2 blocks per game and is averaging 6.5 points per game. Senior forward
Jeremica Edwards is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game and 4.8 points per game.
After winning the first game, Bethune-Cookman lost the next five games and has posted a 3-3 in the last six games. The Wildcats are led by Kailyn Williams with 12.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and with 3.4 blocks per game, while Angel Golden is averaging 8.7 points per game and Taylor Houston is averaging 8.5 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game.
The Lady Tigers head north for two games with Norfolk State Saturday at 4 p.m. in Norfolk, Va., and Hampton Monday at 5 p.m. in Hampton, Va.
