FAIRFIELD, Ala.- Savannah State had a tough day at the office on Saturday afternoon, falling to Miles 100-50 in a game played at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
The loss gives the Lady Tigers a 7-17 overall and a 6-17 mark in the SIAC.
Haylee Malcum scored the first four points of the game for Savannah State.
Her first basket gave SSU a 2-0 lead and her next basket, a layup, made the score 8-4 with 5:48 left in the opening quarter.
A layup by
Jaliyah Harper made the score 12-8 with 3:40 on the clock but Miles closed the quarter with a 8-0 run for a 20-8 lead.
Savannah State was able to score a dozen points in the second quarter as well as force six turnovers as they went into the half trailing 54-20.
Five Lady Tigers scored during the third quarter with Harper adding five points and Malcum and
Jazmin Thornton scoring four points each.
The Golden Bears led 83-35 leading into the final ten minutes of action.
Savannah State outscored Miles 7-3 early in the third quarter to gain some momentum.
The Golden Bears led by as many as 53 but Thornton scored the final three points of the game.
SSU was outscored 17-15 in the fourth quarter.
Malcum scored 14 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had two steals while Harper finished with 13 points, three steals and three blocks.
Thornton had nine points and six rebounds,
Ansley Hicks added eight points,
Makaila Johnson had three points and seven rebounds,
Sanai Chisholm scored two points and Saniyah Rice had one point.
SSU will conclude the regular season on February 24 by hosting Lane at Tiger Arena at 5:30 p.m.
