SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University (24-21, 12-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) enters postseason with the MEAC Championship as the No. 1 Seed in the Southern Division for the second consecutive season at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex in Ormond Beach, Fla., this weekend in a double-elimination tournament.
The Lady Tigers start the tournament with the No. 4 Northern Division seed Morgan State University (13-26, 8-8 MEAC) Thursday at 10 a.m. The winner moves on to face the winner of Florida A&M University (23-27, 11-4 MEAC) and Hampton University (19-26, 11-7 MEAC) at 7 p.m. Thursday, while the loser faces the loser of FAMU-HU at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Seven student-athletes were named on the All-MEAC Teams Tuesday, more than any other team in the conference. Senior first baseman
Torrian Wright was named the MEAC Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, while freshman third baseman
Cortni Jones was named the MEAC Rookie of the Year. Joining Wright and Jones on the All-MEAC First Team is junior pitcher
Amanda Hallman.

Alexis Singleton and junior catcher
Tia Bolden were named on the All-MEAC Second Team, while sophomore shortstop
Brianna Harris and freshman
Kasie Johnson were named on the All-MEAC Third Team.
Singleton leads the Lady Tigers with a .427 (64-for-150) batting average, which ranks fourth in the MEAC and 39
th in the NCAA with 30 runs scored, five doubles and 22 runs batted in, while Wright is second on the team with a .411 (30-for-73) batting average, which ranks fifth in the conference and 63
rd in the NCAA with 21 runs scored, nine doubles, four home runs and 24 RBIs.
Jones is batting .383 (49-for-128), which ranks eighth in the MEAC, with 33 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 37 RBIs, while junior left fielder
Chasney Jenkins is batting .350 (43-for-123) with three doubles, two triples, a home run and 21 RBIs.
As a team, the Lady Tigers are hitting .319 (378-for-1184) with 237 runs scored, 63 doubles, 12 triples, 21 home runs and 205 RBIs with a .446 slugging percentage and a .419 on-base percentage. The batting average ranks second in the MEAC and ranks 32
nd in the NCAA and leads the MEAC in on-base percentage and 17
th in the NCAA and ranks second in the conference with 5.27 runs per game, which ranks 74
th in the NCAA, and second in slugging percentage, which ranks 80
th in the NCAA.
On the mound, Johnson leads the team with a 2.70 ERA with a 5-2 record pitching two complete games giving up 19 earned runs on 52 hits in 49.1 innings pitched with 18 strikeouts, while Hallman is sporting a 13-10 record with a 3.65 ERA pitching 14 complete games giving up 75 earned runs on 152 hits in 144.0 innings pitched with 119 strikeouts.
As a team, the Lady Tigers are sporting a 4.02 ERA giving up 170 earned runs on 337 hits in 296.1 innings pitched with 171 strikeouts.
Morgan State has won three of the last five games and eight of the last 14 games. Audrianna Alvarez leads the Lady Bears with a .370 (37-for-100) batting average with 26 runs scored, seven doubles, four home runs and 22 RBIs, while Damali Young is batting .322 (39-for-121) with 32 runs scored, six doubles, three triples, a home run and seven RBIs.
On the mound, Amy Begg leads the team with an 8-13 record with a 4.12 ERA pitching 10 complete games giving up 78 earned runs on 159 hits in 132.2 innings pitched with 119 strikeouts, while Allison Hartman has a 4-11 record with a 4.45 ERA giving up 50 earned runs on 108 hits in 78.2 innings pitched with 26 strikeouts.
As a team, MSU is hitting .233 (224-for-961) with 140 runs scored, 34 doubles, seven triples, 13 home runs and 120 RBIs. On the mound, the Lady Bears are sporting a 4.76 ERA giving up 171 earned runs on 348 hits in 251.1 innings pitched with 159 strikeouts.
