SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's basketball's (2-7) next two games are against opponents ranked in the top-12 teams starting with No. 11 University of Washington Sunday at 5 p.m. ET in Seattle and then No. 6 University of South Carolina Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
The Lady Tigers continue their difficult stretch with five consecutive opponents that made the postseason play last season. SSU fell to Auburn University (12/11) 75-46 last time out, Washington (12/18) and South Carolina (12/21) all made the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament, while Florida Gulf Coast University (1/2) and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Bethune-Cookman (1/4) made the National Invitational Tournament.

Rhianna Warren led the way for SSU with nine points on 3-for-4 shooting in nine minutes, while senior guard
Kenyata Hendrix added eight points and five rebounds and senior center
Tiyonda Davis added eight rebounds, seven points and two blocks.
Hendrix needs 17 points to reach the 1,000-point milestone as she has recorded 983 career points. The Carrollton, Ga., native would be the third SSU student-athlete to reach the milestone in the Division I era. Hendrix set the school record in made 3-pointers against Georgia Southern on Dec. 1 and has record 157 made career 3-points. She also ranks fifth in school history with 349 made fields goals.
Senior center
Tiyonda Davis needs two blocks to set the school record in the Division I era and has recorded 222 career blocks. Alisha Nelson recorded 223 career blocks from 2008-12. Davis already has the school record in rebounding with 784 career boards, 100 more than second place. The Athens, Ga., native also ranks ninth in scoring (730) and seventh in made field goals (323).
Davis ranks fourth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in rebounds per game (8.3) and is second in blocks per game (3.6), which ranks fifth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Moss leads SSU with 12.8 points per game this season, while Hendrix is second with 11.1 points per game. Davis leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per game, 7.9 points per game and with 3.4 blocks per set, while senior forward
Jeremica Edwards is averaging 7.6 rebounds per game and 6.0 points per game.
Washington has won the last seven games and its only loss was at No. 2 Notre Dame 71-60 on Nov. 20. The Huskies are led by Kelsey Plum with 31.0 points per game, the Pac-12 all-time scorer, and is averaging 5.2 rebounds per game, while Aarion McDonald is averaging 14.0 points per game and Chantel Osahor is averaging 14.2 rebounds per game and 13.7 points per game.
The Lady Tigers return home to face No. 6 South Carolina Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
