SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University softball first baseman
Torrian Wright was named the College Sports Madness Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Field Player of the Year.
Wright was named the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year on Friday for the third consecutive season and has been named the MEAC Postseason Player of the year for the last two years and was named the MEAC Rookie of the Year after her freshman season.
Last year, The McDonough, Ga., native led the National Collegiate Athletic Association in batting average (.566), slugging percentage (1.229), on-base percentage (.748) and walks per game (1.44).
Wright also led SSU in runs scored (43), home runs (17), runs batted in (50), total bases (102) and walks (56).
In conference play, the first basemen led the team with a .633 (19-for-30) batting average with two doubles, six home runs, 22 RBIs and 20 walks. Wright also sported a 1.300 slugging percentage and a .784 on-base percentage.
Wright was the only Savannah State to make the first team as an infielder, but sophomore pitcher

Amanda Hallman were named on the second team.
Hallman, who was named on the MEAC preseason first-team on Friday, batted .343 (37-for-108) last season with 26 runs scored, 11 doubles and eight RBIs overall and batted .400 (16-for-40) in conference play with 17 runs scored, five doubles and 12 RBIs.
Eichenlaub led the Lady Tigers with a 6.15 ERA with a 14-10 record and pitched 143.1 innings and pitched 14 complete games with two shutouts. In conference play, the Savannah, Ga., native recorded a 3.32 ERA with a 9-1 record pitching 65.0 innings in 11 games with nine complete games and two shutouts.

st Annual Tiger Classic at the Lady Tiger Softball Field from Feb. 12-14.
