> Savannah State enters today's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game with South Carolina State having won 11 of their last 13 games. They are currently on a season-high five game winning streak.
> The 10-3 Lady Tigers are in second place in the MEAC standings. They trail No. 1 Hampton (11-2), who they beat 61-55 on January 24. S.C. State is currently sixth in the MEAC standings with an 8-6 conference record.
> This will be the 23rd meeting between SSU and S.C. State, and the second one this season. The Lady Bulldogs lead the series 15-8. In their last meeting, the Lady Tigers downed S.C. State 61-53, on Valentine's Day in Tiger Arena.
> As a team, SSU is the No. 1 scoring offense in the MEAC, averaging 64.0 points a game. They also lead the conference in steals, averaging 12.2 a game. Nationally, SSU is ranked third in steals per game. In the NCAA RPI rankings, the Lady Tigers are ranked 180 out of 349 Division I programs.
> The Lady Tigers are on par to surpass records set in the historic 2013-14 season. They set several records in women's Division I basketball at SSU, finishing 19-14 overall, and 10-6 in the MEAC.
> SSU is led by MEAC preseason player of the year Ezinne Kalu. The redshirt senior out of Newark, N.J. is averaging 17.0 points a game and leads the team and the MEAC in steals per game (3.2). She is nationally ranked in scoring (82), steals (10), assists (220), and field-goal percentage (160).
