Norfolk, Va. – Savannah State University senior
Amara Jones was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women's track and field athlete of the week for the week ending February 3rd, the conference announced Friday afternoon.
Jones took top honors in two events at the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina earlier this week. She won the 200m race with a time of 24.55, a school and personal best record, and then won the 400m race with a time of 55.16. She has a personal best time of 54.16 in the 400m dash.
Jones is ranked 16
th in the nation in the 400m and 31
st in the 200m.
Savannah State's Rueben Israel-McBee was an honorable mention in the top performers after he placed first in the 5000m with a time of 15:34 at the Clemson Invitational.
Hampton senior Reggie Dixon was named MEAC male track and field athlete of the week.
