DURHAM, N.C.- Savannah State rallied back from a 16-point deficit with a 16-4 run but fell short in a 50-46 loss to North Carolina Central in McDougald-McLendon Gym.
SSU trailed 46-30 with 9:22 remaining and used a 8-0 run to pull with 46-38 with just under six minutes left.
After a Eagle field goal with 5:33 on the clock, Savannah State held NCCU without a field goal the rest of the way as they out-scored Central 12-2.

Mattisha Mangum pulled SSU within four with 3:27 left.
Two free throws by NCCU's Joanna Miller gave the Eagles a six point edge with nine seconds remaining.
Carlita Johnson made a layup for SSU at the buzzer.
The loss extends SSU's losing streak to ten games and gives the Lady Tigers a 8-14 record. Central improved to 6-11.
Courtney Long had 13 points, six rebounds and four steals for SSU.
Crissa Jackson added nine points, five steals and four rebounds. Johnson and
Alisha Nelson had 12 rebounds each.
SSU out-rebounded the Eagles 49 to 39.
With the score tied at two, NCCU went on a 19-4 run to go ahead 21-6 with 11 minutes left in the first period.
SSU would close their deficit to 27-18 with 5:32 remaining but Central took a 34-22 lead into the half.
Miller and Blaire Houston each scored 15 points for NCCU.
Both teams had their shooting woes.
SSU was 7-for 36 from the floor in the first half while Central went 6-for 27 in the second period after shooting 52.2 percent in the first half.
