ALBANY, Ga. — Savannah State University opened the Chad Cannon era in cross country Friday evening at the Willie Laster Invitational, hosted by Albany State University.
The Savannah State men finished fourth in the 8K race with 95 points.
Sophomore Jaden-Wayne McPherson led the Tigers, finishing 10th overall with a time of 30:43.70.
Braylin Grier followed with a 14th-place finish, crossing the line in 31:58.70, while freshman Gabriel Hinkins placed 20th with a time of 35:09.70.
Freshman Marcelle Oliver Jr., Robert Estabrook and Eszaunie Earls rounded out the Savannah State contingent.
Oliver finished 31st with a time of 41:20.40, Estabrook placed 34th in 43:25.70 and Earls finished 35th after crossing the finish line in 44:14.50.
Columbus State won the men's 8K with 19 points. Morehouse finished second with 63 points, while Marion Military Institute placed third with 64 points.
Savannah State returns to action Sept. 25 at the Brewton-Parker Invitational.
