WESTON, Fla.- Savannah State traveled to Weston, Florida to compete in the Arics HBCU Championships on Sunday and Monday at The club at Weston Hills.
The Tigers came in sixth place, posting a score of 844 (333-342-169) in the three round event.
Hayden Plybon was the low medalist for SSU, finishing tied for 17th. Plybon finished with a score of 203 (81-79-43).
Lavelle Teague, Jr. finished tied for 19th, following his score of 205 (82-82-41).
Rounding out the Tiger golfers were
Nathaniel Spencer,
Justin Woods and
Brooks Garland who finished 27th, 28th and 29th.
Spencer shot 217 (83-92-42), Woods carded a 223 (87-93-43) and Garland finished with a score of 225 (91-89-49).
All five SSU golfers made at least two birdies in the event.
Miles was the overall winner with a team score of 767 while Adrain Raya of Miles was the individual winner, shooting 189 which he won during a playoff hole to break a three-way tie for first place.
Savannah State will next hit the links at the 2026 Savannah State Spring Invitational on Monday, March 9th through Tuesday, March 10th at Crosswinds Golf Club
