ATLANTA, Ga.-The SIAC Office announced their softball weekly honors on Tuesday afternoon. Savannah State's junior pitcher
Donnea Allen earned the SIAC Pitcher of the Week award, while fellow junior outfielder
Milani Dunning was selected as the conference's Player of the Week.
Allen was dominant in the circle last week for the Lady Tigers, helping to lead SSU to a 4-0 week following doubleheader wins against Voorhees and on the road at Johnson C. Smith. She tossed a seven-inning shutout against Voorhees, allowing just two hits with three walks while striking out seven. She followed with a dominant road performance at Johnson C. Smith, surrendering only three hits and one run while recording 11 strikeouts over seven innings. In total, Allen pitched 14.0 innings, allowing five hits, one run and three walks while striking out 18 to lead her team to a pair of wins.
Dunning did her part as well in the field and at the plate. The Florida A&M transfer went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in the first game against Voorhees. She followed with four runs scored, a triple, two RBI, three walks and a stolen base in the second game. Against Johnson C. Smith, Dunning went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored in the first meeting, then went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run scored, a walk and a stolen base in the second game.
