Savannah, Georgia-The first full week of the new year is upon us and will feature the men's & women's basketball team in action with two important home contests inside the friendly confines of Tiger Arena. Additionally, the SSU track & field squads put on the spikes for the first time this week as they will open the indoor portion of their schedule. We will give a complete outline of all of the action in our latest edition of "This Week In Tiger Athletics".

Women's Basketball
Head Coach Phillip Wallace, Jr. and the Savannah State women's basketball team open the second half of their 2025-26 season with two SIAC East Division home contests this week. The Lady Tigers will look to avenge an early season loss to Fort Valley State on Thursday, January 8th at 5:30pm, followed by a matchup with the defending East Division champions, Clark Atlanta on Saturday, January 10th at 2:00pm.

The SSU men's basketball squad gets back on the home floor this week for two important Divisional matchups. Savannah State welcomes Fort Valley State on Thursday, January 8th at 7:30pm, then on Saturday, January 10th, the Tigers will entertain Clark Atlanta at 5:00pm.

Veteran Savannah State head coach Ted Whitaker and his men's & women's track and field squads will open the indoor portion of their 2026 season this Saturday morning, January 10th. The teams will be participating in the Gamecock Open hosted by the University of South Carolina in Columbia starting at 10:00am
