SAVANNAH, Ga. – Following an exciting Homecoming weekend, Savannah State University Athletics turns its attention to another busy week of competition as the Tigers prepare for action on the golf course, volleyball court and football field.
The week features men's and women's golf competition in North Carolina, a pair of home volleyball matches inside Tiger Arena, and a road football contest against Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) opponent Kentucky State University.
Men's and Women's Golf Head to North Carolina
The Savannah State men's and women's golf teams return to tournament action on Monday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 20, competing in the Barton College Fall Intercollegiate at Wilson Country Club in Wilson, North Carolina.
Under first-year head coach Kelly Allen, both programs will look to continue building momentum during their respective fall campaigns.
On the men's side, sophomore Justin Woods has been one of Savannah State's top performers this season, highlighted by his first-place tie at the Wolves Fall Intercollegiate in September, where he finished nine-under-par. Woods was also named the SIAC Men's Golfer of the Month for September.
Meanwhile, the Savannah State women's golf team will look to build on its fall campaign following its appearance at the Glassy 2026 College Invite in Landrum, South Carolina, earlier this month.
The Lady Tigers feature a veteran lineup that includes Jerina Hill, Ziporah Ward, Corryn Rodney, Jenna Wilson, Morgan Wilkerson and Zell Wilson.
The two-day tournament provides both programs with another opportunity to compete against regional competition as they continue their fall schedules.

Savannah State will return to the court less than 24 hours later, hosting Clark Atlanta University on Wednesday, October 21, at 6 p.m.
Wednesday's match will feature Cancer Awareness Night, as the athletics department joins in recognizing individuals and families affected by cancer while promoting awareness and support.
Head coach Roselidah Obunaga and the Lady Tigers will look to take advantage of their home court as they come down the home stretch of their season.
