Stocks Leads SSU At Cherokee Valley Bash

TIGERVILLE, S.C- Aaron Stocks had a top ten finish to lead Savannah State at the Cherokee Valley Bash which was hosted by North Greenville at the Cherokee Valley Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Stocks finished with a two-day score of 155 which was good enough to finish tied for ninth.

The freshman from Perry, Georgia shot 80 during the first round but was even on the front nine during the second round and finished with a score of 75 on day two. Stocks shot for par 12 times on day two and made birdies on the eighth and 16th holes. He also made a birdie on the 16th hole during the opening round.

Parker Middleton was tied for 25th with his score of 161 (78-83). Middleton made an eagle on the third hole in the second round and also made a birdie on the fifth hole. The senior from Atlanta shot for par ten times on the first day and had birdies on the third, ninth and 14th holes. 


Mark Greene finished tied for 34th after carding a 165 (83-82). The Savannah native shot for par seven times on the first day and made a birdie on the 16th hole. Greene shot for par eight more times on the second day and had a birdie on 14.

Cameron Powers was 48th with a score of 175 (89-86). Powers shot for par five times in the final nine holes as he ended the event shooting for par 16 times.

Xavier Dozier shot 94 in the first round and improved to card a 86 on the second day of action for a score of 182 to finish 53rd. Dozier shot for par on the first three holes in the opening round and then shot for par in the second round on holes 8, 10, 11, 13 and 18 in addition to making a birdie on the 16th hole.

As a team, Savannah State finished 10th with a score of 656 (330-326). The Tigers were one stoke behind Bob Jones who was ninth with a score of 655 and four stokes behind Mars Hill (652).

Palm Beach Atlantic won the event with a score of 601 and Justus Verge of Palm Beach Atlantic was the low medalist with a score of 139.

Savannah State will take some time off before heading to Lexington, Kentucky for the SIAC Men's Golf Championship on April 21st.
