TIGERVILLE, S.C.- Savannah State traveled to Tigerville, South Carolina to participate in the Trailblazer Spring Invitational that was hosted by North Greenville on Monday and Tuesday.
The event, which was held at the Cherokee Valley Golf Club, drew 50 golfers from eight different schools.
Savannah State was led by
Justin Woods who finished tied for 27th. The freshman from San Diego, California shot 157 (77-80).
In the first round, Woods made birdies twice on the back nine on holes 15 and 16 while making par nine times. On the second day of action, Woods made eagles on the third and 16th holes while making par seven times.
Lavelle Teague, Jr. ended the two-day event tied for 36th after shooting 164 (79-85).
Hayden Plybon finished tied for 42nd after his score of 168 (81-87).
Teague made a birdie on the second hole in the first round and another on the eighth hole in the second round while finishing the event shooting for par 16 times. Plybon made par ten times in the first round and ten times in the second round. In the second round, Plybon made par on six consecutive holes (7-12).
Brooks Garland withdrew from the tournament after shooting 84 in the opening round. Garland made birdies on the first, third and 16th holes while making par on the fourth, eighth, 11th, 13th, 15th and 18th holes.
Savannah State finished the tournament in eighth place with a score of 573 (321-252).
Belmont Abbey was the team winner and Nolan Witham of North Greenville was the individual winner.
The Tigers will next tee off at the 2026 SIAC Men's Golf Championship which will be held Monday, April 20th-Wednesday, April 22nd at Tunica National Golf and Tennis Club in Tunica, Mississippi.
