SAVANNAH, Ga.- Parker Middleton and
Mark Greene led Savannah State to a fifth place finish at the SSU Invitational which was played on Monday and Tuesday at the Crosswinds Golf Course.
Middleton shot 155 (75-80) in the two-day event while Greene was right behind him with a score of 156 (77-79).
Middleton made three birdies in the opening round and one in the second round finished 11th while Greene was tied for 12th. Greene made one birdie in the first round and three in the second round on holes 7, 11 and 18.
As a team, Savannah State shot 630 (311-319).
Xavier Dozier was 20th and right behind him was teammate Cameron Powers who was tied for 21st.
Dozier shot 164 (79-85) and Powers had a score of 165 (80-85).
Aaron Stocks participated but withdrew from the tournament.
Because of Monday's weather, the teams only played 36 holes.
JD Dintino was the individual winner with a score of 144.
Kentucky State captured first team among the eight teams with a score of 605.
Paine (623) was second and Johnson C. Smith (628) was third followed by Morehouse (629), SSU, Johnson & Wales (653), Johnson (666) and Central State (709).
The Tigers will face city rival Savannah College of Art and Design in a dual match on Thursday, March 20th at Crosswinds Golf Course.
