HARDEEVILLE, S.C.- The Savannah State University men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2024 season by competing against the University of South Carolina at Beaufort in a dual meet on September 20, 2024.

The Sand Sharks swept SSU with the USCB men winning their 4k meet 17-42 and the women winning their 3k run by a score of 20-35.

Savannah State's
Jadon Rountree finished fourth overall with a run of 14:02.6.
Â
Finishing in slots 9 thru 12 were SSU's
Nyzaveon Thompson (16:06.1),
Cameron Frails (16.09.4),
Christian Landry (16:26) and Nehemiah Shanks (16:56.7).

Howard Smith, Jr. rounded out the Tigers with a time of 18:03.2 to cross the finish line in 14th place.

For the Savannah State women,
Maddison Green finished fourth overall with a run of 15:17.5 wile
Saniya Swain had a time of 15:39 to finish fifth.

Macada McDonald was seventh with a run of 16:41 while
Kaylyn Caldwell (20:15) and
Aneya Kight (20:47.8) were ninth and tenth respectively.

Savannah State will participate in the Brewton-Parker Invitational on October 4, 2024.
