PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.- The Savannah State men's golf team ended their 2024 season by participating in the PGA Works Collegiate Championships which was held at TPC Sawgrass.

The tournament was presented by Chase, Kohler and ADT.

There were eight teams in the Division II field and Savannah State finished fifth with a score of 956.

At the end of the opening round, the Tigers found themselves in sixth place after shooting 317. SSU was one stroke behind Virginia State University and 16 strokes behind Lincoln University of Missouri who had a score of 301.

Savannah State carded a 334 in the second round and remained in sixth place.

The Tigers produced their best round on the third day of competition with a score of 305. That score lifted them past Virginia State who shot 318 and into fifth place.

Chaminade University of Honalulu won the Division II field with a score of 931 followed by Lincoln (932), Bluefield State University (934), Kentucky State University (939) and SSU to round out the top five.

Savannah State's top individual player was junior Jaden Sanders who finished tied for 10th with a score of 233.

Saunders shot 77 in the first round as he made two birdies and shot for par ten times. In the second round, his score dropped to 82 with eight bogeys and one double bogey. The Acworth, Georgia native bounced back to shoot 74 in the final round. He made a birdie on the 10th hole, shot bogeys on the next two holes but finished strong with a birdie on the 13th hole and shot for par on the remaining five holes.

Savannah native
Mark Greene finished 16th with a score of 240 (79-87-74). In the final round, he made a birdie on the eighth hole and shot for par on the ninth and tenth holes. Following a double bogey on the 11th hole, he shot for par on holes 12-14 and made birdies on the 15th and 16th holes.

Right behind Greene was
Endguerrand Guiset who finished 17th after carding a 244.

After shooting 81 and 83 in the first two rounds, Guiset shot 80 in the final round. He started off rough with double bogeys on 11 and 13 but shot for par on the 14th, 15th and 17th holes while making a birdie on the 16th hole.

Senior
Todd Norman carded a 248 to finish 21st. The Savannah native opened with a 80, shot 91 in the second round and closed with a 77.

During the third round, Norman opened with a birdie and shot for par nine times. He also had a birdie on the eighth hole.

Lucas Parisi finished 26th with a score of 256 (91-82-83). In the second round, the New York native opened the round with a bogey but shot for par on thee second and made a birdie on the third hole. He shot for par on the next three holes as well as the ninth, 14th and 18th holes. He also made birdies on the 11th and 16th holes.

Alex Shoemaker of Lincoln was the low medalist with a score of 220.
