ATLANTA, Ga.-  Savannah State senior right-handed pitcher Jose Santiago has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
 
The announcement was made on March 26, 2024 in a release from the conference office.
 
Jose Santiago was the winning pitcher in SSU's 9-1 win over Lane in a game played on March 23 in Jackson, Tennessee.
 
In the game, the North Lauderdale, Florida native pitched seven innings and struck out five batters. He walked two batters and gave up four hits (all singles) but did not surrender any runs.
 
He faced 28 batters and struck out at least one batter in the first four innings and faced the minimum of three batters in the first, sixth and seventh innings.
 
Jose Santiago also won SIAC Pitcher of the Week honors on February 29, 2024.
