SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State University men's and women's track & field teams have announced their 2024 outdoor schedule.
 
The Tigers will enter the season hoping to capitalize on the success of the 2023 team which included earning 15 medals at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, having seven members of the team earn All-SIAC honors and two being named to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region team.
 
During the SIAC Championships, the SSU women finished in third place while the men were fourth.
 
Savannah State will participate in eight meets which includes hosting three meets.
 
The outdoor season will start on February 24 with SSU hosting their annual EyeOpener. The following week on March 2, Savannah State will host the annual Savannah State Relays.
 
The next three meets will have the Tigers on the road at the CAU Panther Invitational in Atlanta (March 9), Georgia, the CSU Buccaneer Invitational in Charleston, South Carolina (March 15) and the Weems Baskins Relays in Columbia, South Carolina ( March 22).
 
Savannah State will have their final home meet of the season on March with the Savannah State Orange and Blue.
 
The Tigers will finish the regular season on the road in South Carolina.
 
SSU will participate in the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic in Orangeburg on April 13 and the USC Open in Columbia on April 20.
 
The 2024 SIAC Track & Field Championships will be held April 25-27 in a location tot be announced.
 
Ted Whitaker is the SSU head track & field coach and his assistant is Savionna Glover. Whitaker has been the Savannah State head track & field coach since 1997 while Glover will be in her first season with the program.
