SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State opened their 2026 outdoor track & field season with a third place finish at the SSU Eyeopener on Saturday at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.
Savannah State finished the meet with 102.50 points, coming behind South Carolina State (219) and Clayton State (147).
Other participating teams at the meet were Fort Valley State (69.50), Allen (50), LaGrange (7) and USC Sumter (4).
The Tigers won four events, scoring 32 points in the throws, 27.5 in the jumps and 19 in sprints.
D'Anthony Glover won two events for SSU in the high jump and long jump while
Evan Guyton won the discus and
Braylin Grier took first place in the 400m race.
Glover won the high jump with a leap of 2.05m and had a jump of 6.88m to win the long jump. Guyton had a throw of 46.38m to win the discus while Grier had a time of 49.00 to win the 400m.
In the javelin throw,
Robert Estabrook set a new school record with his throw of 44.80m to claim second place while teammate
Jordan Scruggs finished fourth with his throw of 35.16m.
The 4x100m relay team of
Kajuan Davis,
Shaun Eason,
Yastremski Johnson and
Kamari Kindle was second in their event with a time of 42.44.
Jakobe Mobley (2.00) was third in the high jump and
Raymond McKoy (1.90m) finished fourth.
In the 1500m run, Jaden-Wayne McPhearson was fourth with his run of 4:17.32 and Tayshaun Williams was right behind him in fifth after his run of 4:18.02.
Shaun Eason was sixth in the 200m with a run of 22.59 while in the 100m race, Eason finished fifth with a time of 11.08 and
Yastremski Johnson was sixth with a run of 11.14.
Kajuan Davis claimed fourth in the 110m hurdles with his run of 15.04 and
Cameron Frails was sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.55.
Donovan Holdip was fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.00m,
Evan Guyton was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 12.90m and in the discus,
Melik Williams finished fifth with a throw of 40.41m.
