Men's Golf

Tigers Remain In Second After Second Round of PGA Works Championship

BESSEMMER, Al- The Savannah State University men's golf team remains in second place behind Kentucky State University, following the second day of action in the Division II section of the PGA Works Championship. The tournament is being played at Bent Brook Golf Course and Shoal Creek Club.
Kentucky State leads the eight team field with a score of 582 while Savannah State is in second with a score of 595. None of the teams shot as well as they did in the opening round. KSU shot 301 (+13) today while the Tigers shot 307 (+19).
Rounding out the field is Bluefield State University (616), Miles College (618), Lincoln University (620), Winston-Salem State University (649), Virginia State University (667) and Johnson C. Smith University (690).
Kentucky State's Micah Stangebye remains the individual leader with a score of 133. Stangebye shot a 67 in the opening round and a 66 in the second round.
Savannah State's Korbin Allan remains in second place while teammate Nicolas Masuga has moved up to third place after being tied for fifth on the first day of action. Allan has a score of 140 (68-72) and Macsuga is five strokes back at 145 (72-73).
Jaden Saunders was tied for 12th after the first round but has moved up to 10th with a score of 153 (74-79). Lucas Parisi shot an 88 on the second day of action and fell from 12th to tied for 21st with three others and has a score of 162 (74-88) while Mark Greene moved up a notch from 26th to 25th and has a two-day score of 163 (80-83).
As a team, SSU has shot for par 94 times and has made 27 birdies. Saunders leads all golfers with 26 pars while Allan, Masuga and Greene have 18 each and Parisi has 14. Allan has made 15 birdies while Macsuga has made eight. The third and final round will be on May 10.
