Allan, Macsuga Lead Tigers at PGA Works Championship

BESSEMMER, Ala.- Korbin Allan and Nicolas Macsuga both shot -3 under par 68 on the final day of competition to finish second and third to lead the Savannah State University men's golf team to a second place finish in the PGA Works Championship. The tournament was held at Bent Brook Golf Course and Shoal Creek Club.
Allan ended the tournament with a score of -6 under par 208 (68-72-68) while Macsuga shot for a score of -1 under par 213 (72-73-68). Both players shot for par 11 times in the final round. Allan had 16 birdies during the tournament and Macsuga had 13.
Kentucky State University led the tournament from start to finish with a team score of +4 over par 862 (281-301-280) which was 20 strokes better than SSU.
Lincoln University shot a -5 under 301 on the final day to leap from fifth to finish third with a score of 899. Miles College finished fourth with a score of 916 followed by Winston-Salem State University (970), Virginia State University (983) and Johnson C. Smith University (1,008). Kentucky State's Micah Stangebye was the low medalist with a score of -12 under par 202 (67-66-69).
Jaden Saunders of Savannah State ended the tournament tied for ninth with Jean Marc Chevrotiere of Kentucky State. Both shot 225 with Saunders shooting a 74-79-72 with a tournament-high 38 pars.
Rounding out the SSU golfers were Mark Greene (80-83-79) and Lucas Parisi (74-88-80) who were tied for 23rd with a score of 225. Under the direction of Head Golf Coach Christopher Miller, Savannah State closes the 2023 spring season after a number of great showings this season. The Tigers opened the spring season in February with a fourth-place finish in the Alabama State Invitational followed by another fourth place finish at the BCGCA Gulf Shores Invitational in March. Allan was the low medalist at a dual match in early April and Saunders earned low medalist honors at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship while the Tigers as a team finished in second place in mid-April.
