Women's Golf

Lady Tigers Host Spring Invite

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's golf hosted three teams in a two-round tournament this past weekend.
 
The Lady Tiger Spring Invite, a 27-hole event, included NCAA Division I teams North Carolina Central and Maryland Eastern Shore competing with Savannah State at Crosswinds Golf Club and Deer Creek Course at The Landings Club in Savannah.
 
North Carolina Central won the tournament with a two-round team score of 491. They shot 166 in the opening round of nine-holes—the opening round was shortened due to inclement weather—and closed with a 325 in the second round of 18-holes.
 
Maryland Eastern Shore finished second with a team score of 537. Savannah State finished with a team score of 540 after opening with a 182 and closing with a 358.
 
Saika Charles led the Lady Tigers with a two-round 127, shooting a 45 to open and closing with an 82 for a sixth place finish. Ja'Davia McCallum shot a 128 to finish seventh followed by Miracle Goolsby (131), Angela Dodson (154), and Kaila Leonard (208).
 
Central's Jalea Culliver won individual medalist honors with a two-round low of 113, shooting a 42 to open and a tournament-low 71 to close. 
Savannah State women's golf continue the spring march with the Lady Tiger Dual on April 11. They will host the University of South Carolina Beaufort on their home course, Crosswinds Golf Club, for the dual match.
 
The Lady Tigers will head to Saint Simons Island for the 2023 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship on April 21 to compete in the program's second ever conference championship appearance.
