Men's Golf Finish Successful Spring Season At PGA Works

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Savannah State men's golf closed out the 2022 campaign this past weekend at the 2022 PGA Works Championship.
This year's three-round tournament was held at the Union League Golf Club at Torresdale in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Tigers finished in seventh place as a team, shooting a three-round 957. They were led by Nicolas Macsuga who tied for 10th in the individual race after shooting a three-round 231. Macsuga opened with a 75, shot an 81 in round two and finished with a 75.

Senior Korbin Allan tied for a 12th place finish with a three-round 232 (76, 77 79). Devin Smith finished with a 243 (79, 79, 85) while Todd Norman shot a 252 (86, 84, 82) and Mark Greene rounded out the scoring with a 267.

California State University, Dominguez Hills won the PGA Works Division II side with a three-round 920 team score. Miles College finished runner-up, shooting 925 followed by Lincoln University (928), Virginia Union (929), Kentucky State (933) and Bluefield State College (944).

Fayetteville State finished eighth, followed by Johnson C. Smith and Virginia State University to round out the 10-team field.

Savannah State closes the spring season after a number of great showings this season. The Tigers opened the spring season in February, collecting hardware at the Wildcat Mardi Gras Invite.

Allan then claimed individual medalist honors at the Alabama Spring Classic in late February. He finished in the top 10 at the 2022 Benbow Invite in March and then earned an SIAC Golfer of the Month award for his efforts—the first SIAC award in program history.
