Men’s Golf Finish Fourth At SIAC Championship

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – Savannah State men's golf finished fourth in their first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship this past week.

The Tigers shot a team total of 971 through the three-round tournament. They opened with a 318, shot a 338 in round two and closed with an improved 315.

Korbin Allan led the Tigers in the individual field. He finished in 10th place—his fourth top 10 finish this semester—with a three round total of 232 (76, 79, 77).

Nicolas Macsuga finished 17th overall with 241 (79, 83, 79). Todd Norman (249), Devin Smith (254), and Brett Ammons (262) rounded out the field for Savannah State.

The three-round, par-72, 6642-yard tournament was played at the Flat Creek Golf Course in Peachtree City, Georgia.

Despite being in the SIAC since the spring of 2020, the Tigers were unable to compete for a conference championship due to the pandemic until this year.

Spring Hill College won the SIAC Men's Golf Championship title this year with a team score of 882, followed by Miles College (920), and Kentucky State (938). LeMoyne-Owen College finished fifth followed by Morehouse College in sixth.

Spring Hill also claimed the top three medalist honors in the tournament. Peter Schilli won the top spot with a three-round 214, followed by teammates Rasmus Malmborg (222) and Brennan Dolnick (224)—the latter tied with Miles College's Phillip Darst (224) for third place.

Savannah State men's golf will close the 2022 spring season at the PGA Works Collegiate Championship. This year's PGA Works tournament is set for May 7-11 at Union League Liberty Hill and The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
