Benn Earns Second SIAC Player Of The Week Award

ATLANTA, Ga. – For the second time this year, Savannah State's Gabrielle Benn has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced in a press release on Wednesday afternoon. 
 
This is Benn's second award this season after being named the SIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week on March 16.
 
Benn was flawless in the first court of singles action for Savannah State last week. She picked up wins against Tuskegee, Spring Hill, Clark Atlanta and Albany State as the Lady Tigers cruised to a 7-1 record in the second SIAC Roundup in Mobile, Alabama.
 
On the season, Benn is 11-1 with one unfinished match in singles action. Benn has been stellar in doubles action as well, playing with her sister Amarlia, going 7-4 with two unfinished matches.
 
The Lady Tigers close out the regular season schedule this weekend with a road match at Georgia College. They are currently 13-5 on the season and 11-3 in conference action.
 
Savannah State will play in the 2022 SIAC Championship, a single elimination tournament set for April 9-10 in Peachtree City, Georgia, as the No. 2 seed out of the SIAC East Division.
