MOBILE, Ala.- Savannah State earned a split on the second day of action in the SIAC Roundup which was played at the Mobile Tennis Center.
Spring Hill defeated Savannah State 7-0 on Thursday morning but the Lady Tigers bounced back with a 4-3 victory over Benedict in the afternoon.
SSU dropped all nine matches to the Badgers with
Madeleine Anne Nolan (1-6, 2-6),
Nyla Warner (0-6, 0-6),
Sunzahra Banks (0-6, 1-6),
Katelynn Welch (1-6, 0-6),
Amaia Connor (1-6, 2-6) and
Simone Reese (1-6, 1-6) falling in singles matches.
In doubles action, the teams of Nolan/Welch, Warner/Banks and Connor/Reese all lost their matches 1-6.
In the match with Benedict, Banks, Connor and Reese all posted singles wins while Nolan/Banks and Connor/Reese won their doubles matches.
Banks won her match 6-0, 6-1 while Connor and Reese won by default.
Nolan/Banks walked away with a 6-2 win while Connor/Reese won by default.
Warner fell in her singles match 2-6, 0-6 while Nolan lost 6-2, 2-6, 5-10 and Welch dropped a 1-6, 0-6 decision.
Warner/Nolan lost their doubles match 0-6.
Savannah State (4-8) will wrap up play in the roundup on Friday at 2 p.m. against Tuskegee.
