Korbin Allan Medals In ASU Spring Classic

PRATTVILLE, Ala. – Korbin Allan claimed the first place medal at the 2022 Alabama State Spring Classic this past weekend.

Allan was tied for third place with Alabama State's Max Adams after the opening round of the tournament, shooting a 74 on day one. He trailed Western Illinois' Parker Govern (73) and Alabama A&M's Felipe Gomez Lopez who opened with a 72 to lead the individual race after the first round.

But in round two, Allan improved on his first day score, shooting a daily low 73 for a two-round total of 147, claiming a first place finish. Teammate Nicholas Macsuga tied for fifth place overall, but earned the daily low round in the second round, shooting a 73 as well. Macsuga opened with an 81 for a 154 overall.

Devin Smith finished with a 169, followed by Todd Norman (173) and Mark Greene (176) for Savannah State.

The Tigers finished fifth overall as a team with a two-round score of 642. Western Illinois earned the team win with a 616, followed by Alabama State (628), Evansville University (636), and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (638). Alabama A&M finished sixth, followed by Maryland Eastern Shore and Morehouse College.

Mircale Goolsby led the Lady Tigers with a two-round 188. She was followed by Ja'Davia McCallum (213), Kaila Leonard (350) and Stella Ekwalla (389).

The Lady Tigers finished in sixth place in the team rankings. Samford University won the women's team title with a 647, followed by Western Illinois, Chicago State, Alabama State, and Maryland Eastern Shore.
Savannah State men's and women's golf hit the greens next on March 7-8 at the annual Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler University in Jacksonville, Florida.
