SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State softball opens the 2022 season today and a new era in program history.

Savannah State recently announced the hiring of new Head Softball Coach Megan Griffith, who will coach her debut game today for the Lady Tigers. Griffith became the fifth head softball coach at Savannah State following a nationwide search. She replaces 14-year veteran Jose Gonzalez who resigned in December, 2021.

Griffith's new team is loaded with potential. Big hitters Jayden Moore, Morgan Green, JaNesa Robinson and Jalexia Wright all returned to the roster this season and will be key to the Lady Tigers offense.

On the mound, Savannah State will field Alisyn Ferrell as the No. 1 pitcher this season. Ferrell pitched 46.0 innings last season, with a 5-2 win-loss record.

Upike opens their 2022 season today at Savannah State. They are an NAIA team competing in the Mid-South Conference from Pikeville, Kentucky.
