Savannah, Ga. – Coming off a big non-conference win in Tiger Arena on Saturday, the Savannah State women's basketball team will host a key Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game tonight.

In a cross-divisional battle, the Lady Tigers will face Miles College for the second time this season. Both teams are undefeated in SIAC play. SSU leads the East Division and Miles is second in the West Division standings behind 3-0 Lane College.

The Lady Tigers moved up to the No. 20 spot in the WBCA Coaches Poll this week and received 10 votes in the D2SIDA Media Poll. Last season, SSU earned the highest rankings in program history after a dominating 27-3 season and 14-1 conference mark.

LAST GAME
On Saturday, No. 20 Savannah State earned their 17th consecutive win in Tiger Arena beating Anderson University in a non-conference bout, 74-63, in the first home game of the season. As Head Coach Cedric Baker's teams often do, the Lady Tigers began Saturday's game at full speed, outscoring Anderson 22-8 in the first quarter for a lead they would not relinquish. Baker began his 19th season at Savannah State and his 29th season of coaching this year. (READ MORE HERE)

PLAYER OUTLOOK
In the opening four games of the young season, the veterans have stepped up for Savannah State. In the last two games, it's been second-year point guard #20 Nyla Allen. A week ago, she put up a career-high 28 points against Central State. On Saturday, she scored 27 against Anderson to lead the field. She leads the stats, averaging 17.2 points a game.

Just behind her is #23 guard Amari Heard, who's putting up 15.4 points a game. #22 forward Bria Gibbs is having another strong season, averaging 15.2 points a game and leads the team in rebounding, averaging 9.6 boards a game. Gibbs has recorded two double-doubles so far this season.

LAST GAME vs. MILES
In Savannah State's second game of the season, they faced off with Miles in a Classic hosted by the perennial SIAC West Division powerhouse. The Lady Tigers pulled out a close 62-57 win mostly due to a big first quarter—a motif for Cedric Baker's teams. Heard led the scoring in that game with 16 points. That game did not count as a conference game. However, tonight's game will count as a conference match.

OPPONENT SCOUTING REPORT
Since the last meeting with Savannah State on Nov. 13, Miles has earned four consecutive wins—and one loss in an exhibition match against Samford. They picked up a nonconference win over Oakwood and SIAC wins over Fort Valley State, Clark Atlanta and Edward Waters.

The Golden Bears are led by sophomore #1 Lemyiah Harris and junior #23 Desereia Randle who are both averaging 18.0 points a game. Randle also leads the defense with 9.0 rebounds an outing.
