SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's basketball will turn its attention toward the upcoming 2026-27 season as head coach Phillip Wallace Jr., junior guard
Jayden Boykin and sophomore guard Alayah Birch represent the Lady Tigers at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Basketball Media Day on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The annual event will be held at the Morrow Center in Morrow, Georgia, and will feature coaches and student-athletes from throughout the conference previewing the upcoming SIAC basketball season.
Media Day is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. following registration at 9:30 a.m. SIAC Commissioner Dr. Anthony Holloman will deliver an opening address before the conference unveils its predicted order of finish for the upcoming season.
Wallace, Boykin and Birch are scheduled to take part in the women's basketball portion of the program at 11:05 a.m., appearing alongside representatives from Kentucky State.
The event will provide Wallace and the two Savannah State student-athletes an opportunity to discuss the Lady Tigers, preparations for the new season and expectations for the 2026-27 campaign.
Savannah State's trip will begin Monday, Sept. 28, with participation in the SIAC Basketball Community Service Day. The Savannah State contingent has been assigned to Sequoyah Middle School in Riverdale, Georgia, where participants will take part in a Collegiate Chat/Fireside Conversation beginning at 4 p.m.
Wallace, Boykin and Birch will be joined at the community service event by Savannah State men's basketball representatives and members of the Tigers' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Media Day's formal program is scheduled to conclude at 11:40 a.m., followed by an open media session beginning at 11:45 a.m. The event concludes at 3 p.m.
The appearance marks one of the first major events leading into the 2026-27 season for Savannah State women's basketball as Wallace and the Lady Tigers prepare for another season of SIAC competition.
