Bria Gibbs, Ta’Quasia Lampkin Sweep SIAC Weekly Awards

ATLANTA, Ga. – Savannah State women's basketball swept the Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SIAC) Player of the Week awards this week, according to a press release from the conference office.

Bria Gibbs was named the SIAC Player of the Week while Ta'Quasia Lampkin was named the SIAC Newcomer of the Week.

Gibbs and Lampkin led the Lady Tigers in two big road wins last week to earn the awards. Gibbs recorded her fifth double-double of the season against Spring Hill with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Lampkin led Savannah State in a win over Fort Valley State with her first double-double of the season scoring a season-high 22 points with 16 rebounds. She also led in steals with seven.

Savannah State improved to 14-0, 8-0 SIAC on Monday with a 92-57 rout of Clark Atlanta. On Tuesday, they moved into the No. 22 spot of the WBCA Coaches Poll.

The Lady Tigers travel to Columbia, South Carolina this Saturday to face the reigning SIAC champions Benedict College. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
