Women's Cross Country

Lady Tigers Cross Country Team Dominates Dual

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Savannah State went head-to-head with Fort Valley State in a cross country dual on Tuesday. 
 
The Lady Tigers put on a dominate performance. Kayla Chance, who just won a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Cross Country Championship, led the women's side with a time of 16:41.2 She was followed by teammate Jasmine Williams who ran a 19:39.6 in the 4k.
 
Da'aliyah Johnson finished in sixth place with a time of 23:21.3 followed by Jahvene Walder (24:05.6) and Simone Johnson (24:42.7). The Lady Tigers, as a team, bested Fort Valley with a time of 1:48:30 to the Lady Wildcats 1:53:56.
 
On the men's side, the Tigers were led by freshman Josh Mitchell who ran a 26:01.6 in the 6k. He was followed by Kelvin Jackson (26:01.6), Myles Corey (26:31.3) Andre Valcin (28:33.5) and Deashuan Logan (28:35.1).
 
As a team, the Tigers ran a 2:15.52, coming just under Fort Valley's 2:12:46. The Wildcat's Alex Doyle won the individual race with a time of 22:09.6.
 
The Savannah State Cross Country teams conclude the 2021 season on Monday, Nov. 1 with another dual against Fort Valley State.
