Tigers Collect Hardware At Gulf Shores Invite

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Savannah State men's and women's golf teams collected some hardware this weekend in their final event of the fall golf season at the Gulf Shores Invitational/Black College Classic hosted at Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club.

The Savannah State men's golf team claimed second place in the NCAA Division II bracket with a three-round team score of 944 (319, 307, 318). Livingstone College claimed the title with a team score of 910 (304, 298, 308).

Korbin Allan led the Tigers in the individual scoring. Allan finished third overall with a three-round total of 228. He opened with a 77 (5 over par) in the opening round, then cut that score to a one-over par 73 in the second round. Allan concluded with a 75 in round three.

Newcomer Devin Smith finished in sixth place with a three-round score of 237 (80, 74, 83). Nicolas Macsuga finished in ninth place with a 240 (84, 80, 76) followed by Kaleb Dawson who shot a 241 (78, 80, 83). Lucas Parisi rounded out the Tigers' scoring with a 252 (88, 83, 81).

On the women's side, the Lady Tigers claimed top prize in the Division II bracket. Individually, Ja'Davia McCallum led Savannah State with a fifth place finish. McCallum shot a three-round total of 249 (89, 80, 80). Freshman Maya Northcutt shot a three-round total of 271 followed by Miracle Goolsby (282).

Savannah State men's and women's golf returns to action in late February with the Alabama State Spring Classic.

The Tigers are set to play two invitationals leading up to the 2022 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship. The Lady Tigers will also compete in two invitationals in the spring leading up to the 2022 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship.
