Women's Cross Country By Jazmin Wilson

Cross Country Tigers Compete at Sand Shark Invitational

BLUFFTON, S.C.— Savannah State men and women cross country teams competed in Bluffton, South Carolina at the Sand Shark Invitational on the campus of University of South Carolina Beaufort this weekend. 

Leading the way for Savannah State, Kayla Chance finished her 5k run in second place with a time of 19:23. 

Coming in at 24:35, junior Jasmine Williams is improving her times this season. Jahvene Walder and Artexis Drake finished seconds after each other at 31:15 and 31:16, respectively.  

For the men's 8k run, freshman Kelvin Jackson finished in 33:50 and Andre Valcin came in shortly after at 33:52.  Deashaun Logan came in next for orange and blue with a time of 45:17 and Solomon Mitchell finished with a time of 49:34. 

The Tigers have one more meet at Fort Valley State and then will head to Rock Hill, S.C. For the 2021 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship.
